Here's some shots of the automaton. Various things need doing like covering up joints and cleaning things up and maybe an extra layer of sea etc, but the mechanics are fine.
Well, I should get to bed, i'm up past my bed time on a school night.

Thanks everyone for the kind words! The mechanism was super simple in the end it occurs to me now that most mechanisms should be quite simple - it's just a matter of trying thigns out I think, but i'll post about it soon - a wee diagram or something.
